Update on Student Injured in Skopje Shooting
Skopje – The Head of Emergency at the “Mother Teresa” Clinical Center, Igor Merxhanoski, provided an update on the health condition of a 14-year-old student injured in a shooting incident near a primary school in Hasanbeg, Skopje. The student was admitted to the facility yesterday at approximately 2:40 PM following injuries sustained in the attack. According to Merxhanoski, the patient sustained gunshot wounds to the abdominal area and a head laceration.
Initial assessments, including CT scans and laboratory tests, revealed the severity of the injuries, necessitating immediate transfer to the intensive care unit. An urgent surgical intervention was performed yesterday. “His condition today is stable, but he remains at risk of death,” Merxhanoski stated.
The surgery addressed damage to the liver and the inferior vena cava, a significant vein in the lower abdomen. Medical staff are continuing to monitor the patient closely. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
The incident is currently under investigation.
