Meta may not have produced the foldable phone, but it is building the operating system for humans.

Meta Acquires Assured Robot Intelligence to Advance Humanoid Robotics

Meta has announced the acquisition of Assured Robot Intelligence, a robotics startup led by Lerrel Pinto, former co-founder of Fauna Robotics, and Xiaolong Wang, a former Nvidia researcher. The move is intended to bolster Meta’s strategy within its humanoid robotics platform. Assured Robot Intelligence specializes in full-body robot control models and associated sensor technology.

This acquisition will integrate these capabilities into Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, furthering the company’s stated goal of becoming a leading provider of the “Android of humanoids.” According to reports, Meta aims to supply the core intelligence layer, allowing external developers to build and utilize robotic machines. Lerrel Pinto previously co-founded Fauna Robotics, which developed the Sprout, a near-humanoid bipedal robot. Fauna was acquired by Amazon in March, along with its 50 employees and the $50,000 Sprout robot.

This latest acquisition demonstrates Meta’s continued investment in advanced robotics and its commitment to developing sophisticated robot intelligence. The integration of Assured Robot Intelligence’s technology is expected to significantly contribute to Meta’s broader research and development efforts in the field of robot technology.
