Prime Minister Mickoski Anticipates Complaint Following Halt to Coal Supply Investigation
Skopje – Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski stated he anticipates Elektrana’s filing of a complaint following the recent decision to discontinue the investigation into thirteen individuals and a company related to the supply of coal to the TC Negotinë power plant. The contract, valued at over 160 million euros, is at the center of the matter. Mickoski indicated he expects a thorough review of the case, following the prosecution’s conclusion.
The Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution determined that no evidence of criminal activity existed within the coal supply operation to the plant. This decision effectively halted the investigation. Following the announcement, Mickoski contacted Chief Prosecutor Nenad Saveski.
Saveski reported that he had not been formally informed of the prosecution’s decision by the head of the Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution. “I wasn’t sure when I heard that news. I was shocked by what I heard,” Mickoski said.
“Upon receiving the decision, I expect a complaint to be filed and the case to be reviewed and analyzed.” The Prime Minister’s statement reflects a desire for further scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding the investigation and the prosecution’s findings.
