Mickoski: The technical government will remain in power for upcoming elections.

Mickoski Dismisses Concerns Regarding Continued Technical Government Through Elections

Skopje – Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski has addressed concerns surrounding the continued operation of the technical government, stating that changes to the Government Law will ensure its continuation until the next scheduled parliamentary elections. Mickoski asserted that anxieties expressed by the opposition regarding potential electoral losses are unfounded. The revised legislation dictates that the current technical government will remain in place until the next elections are held.

This model, Mickoski explained, has been consistently utilized since 2016, including for the 2020 and 2024 elections. As is standard practice, the Prime Minister will resign 100 days prior to the elections. Subsequently, a new technical prime minister will be appointed through parliamentary vote, with the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDSM) participating in the selection process.

Mickoski emphasized that this established procedure guarantees a stable government transition and maintains the integrity of the electoral process. The changes to the government law solidify this framework, ensuring a predictable timeline leading up to and following the next elections.
