MPB: Do not open random messages about traffic fines

The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning to citizens regarding fraudulent SMS messages circulating concerning traffic violations and fines associated with the “Safe City” system. The Ministry advises the public that these deceptive messages attempt to trick recipients into providing personal or banking details via embedded links to pay supposed fines. Authorities have identified this as a phishing attempt designed for the collection of sensitive data.

The Ministry stresses that legitimate official SMS notifications regarding violations are exclusively sent from the sender ID “MVR-SC.” Furthermore, any authentic message must contain the vehicle’s registration plate number, and the official link provided must direct users to the domain safecountry.mvr.gov.mk. Citizens are strongly urged to exercise caution and refrain from opening suspicious links or disclosing any personal information, such as payment card numbers or passwords, if they are uncertain about the source of the communication. The Ministry emphasizes that vigilance is necessary when receiving such messages about potential penalties.

Following these guidelines will help protect individuals from falling victim to these fraudulent schemes disseminated through text messages.
