Muriqi Reveals Near Move to Paris Saint-Germain

Vedat Muriqi has recounted the circumstances surrounding his near transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. The Kosovar international joined Italian club Lazio from Fenerbahce that year, and details have emerged of a significant opportunity that almost altered his career trajectory. PSG had expressed interest in securing Muriqi’s services, a situation that developed as the striker was establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer.

According to Muriqi’s account, the initial approach came through Lazio’s Director of Sport, Igli Tare. “It is normal that a striker who starts scoring a lot of goals, every team will have an interest,” Muriqi stated. He further explained that he communicated his willingness to accept Lazio’s offer to Tare.

However, PSG subsequently contacted the club, proposing a deal mirroring Fenerbahce’s asking price and Muriqi’s own demands. This offer arose shortly after Muriqi had recorded 17 goals and 8 assists. Ultimately, Muriqi chose to finalize his transfer to Lazio, a decision influenced by the initial positive discussions with the French club.

This near transfer highlights the rising profile of Muriqi and the competitive interest surrounding his performances.
