Arben Mustafa, representing the Democratic Party of Kosovo, has expressed concerns regarding the legitimacy of the December elections held on December 28th. Mustafa asserted that the election date was atypical and did not accurately represent the views of the Kosovan public. Speaking on the matter, Mustafa highlighted the unusual circumstances surrounding the December elections.
He noted that the date coincided with a period of increased travel for Kosovar citizens, both domestically and internationally, as well as a significant influx of the Kosovo diaspora. This, he argued, resulted in a skewed voter turnout, diminishing the election’s reflection of genuine public sentiment. Furthermore, Mustafa leveled accusations against the Vetëvendosje Movement, alleging the distribution of funds to influence voters.
He stated that the selection of December 28th as the date for the elections was irregular and impacted the accuracy of the results. The comments from Mustafa come amidst ongoing debate about the fairness and representativeness of the December elections.
