One of the world’s longest bridges – for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport – has recently opened in Helsinki.

New Pedestrian Bridge Opens in Helsinki, Connecting Key Districts

Helsinki’s newest landmark, the Kruunuvuorensilta bridge, has officially opened, marking a significant transformation of the city’s landscape. The bridge, designated exclusively for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport, spans 1,191 meters and connects the Korkeasaari and Kruunuvuorenranta districts. This ambitious project represents Finland’s longest and highest bridge.

The primary purpose of the Kruunuvuorensilta is to provide a dedicated space for non-motorized transport and recreation. Previously, Kruunuvuorenranta was located 5.5 kilometers from the city center, a distance now reduced to 11 kilometers according to reports. “The Kruunuvuorensilta bridge is the new, unique and exciting spot for Helsinki,” stated Daniel Sazonov, Chairman of the Helsinki City Council.

“A view that will attract visitors from near and far. The new bridge reforms the way we see Helsinki. It connects the Kruunuvuorenra areas.”

The opening of this bridge is intended to improve accessibility and connectivity within Helsinki, offering a dedicated route for pedestrians and cyclists while reshaping the relationship between the city center and the Kruunuvuorenranta area.
