One year after the murder of Ilaria Salus, parents seek justice: We will never forgive.

A year after the tragic death of 22-year-old Albanian woman Ilaria Sula in Italy, the sorrow for her family persists deeply. The parents, Flamur and Gëzime Sula, consistently return almost every weekend to the location where her body was discovered, a fountain on a mountain road in Capranica Prenestina, near Rome. They diligently maintain the memorial established at the site.

The mother regularly cleans the commemorative plaque and the photographs, while the father adds fresh flowers. Etched onto the black marble is a poignant message: “I will send you a kiss with the wind and I know you will feel it.” For Ilaria’s mother, the passage of a year without her daughter represents a profound and unfillable emptiness. She emphasizes that their lives irrevocably altered on April 2nd.

“Our lives ceased that day,” she states. “When a young woman is taken, it’s as if the essence of life itself vanishes. They are no longer able to move forward.” This devastating event continues to profoundly affect the Sula family, marking a year of enduring grief and remembrance for Ilaria.
