Osmani on the Skopje-Bllacë road: Not a millimeter has changed from the project we prepared.

Bujar Osmani, the Deputy Chairman of BDI, provided a statement following the formal signing of the agreement for the second section of the Skopje-Bllacë highway. Osmani addressed the project timeline, noting that despite prior warnings regarding potential modifications to the route, he stated that these changes do not appear to have been implemented. He highlighted a two-year period during which delays were frequently attributed to the necessity of altering the highway’s planned trajectory.

Osmani contended that the current contract signing suggests the opposite. According to his comments, the necessary groundwork—including securing funding, finalizing the project scope, completing expropriations, and initiating tendering processes—had already been substantially completed. The Deputy Chairman asserted that the prolonged delays were based on what he characterized as misleading public discourse concerning a “route change” that, in his view, never materialized.

He emphasized that the preparatory work for the original path remained intact. Osmani concluded by questioning the rationale behind the extended delays, suggesting that the public deserved a direct explanation regarding the stalled progress. His comments focused on the discrepancy between the stated reasons for delay and the apparent readiness of the project components leading toward Skopje.

The statement framed the recent agreement signing as evidence that the initial plans for the Skopje-Bllacë corridor were fundamentally sound, and the delays were not due to an unchangeable route.
