Kosovo Parties Required to Declare Election Intentions

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has issued a formal requirement for all registered political parties to declare their intentions regarding the upcoming Kosovo Assembly elections scheduled for June 7, 2026. All 53 currently registered parties are obligated to notify the CEC of their participation or non-participation. According to a statement released by CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, this notification requirement applies to all active political parties within Kosovo.

Parties must formally declare their intentions by May 7th. Elezi explained to KosovaPress that this process is a standard procedure for ensuring transparency and accurately reflecting the landscape of the election. The deadline for notification is firm, with parties having seven days – from May 1st to May 7th – to confirm their participation or indicate they will not be contesting the elections.

This requirement applies specifically to the currently registered parties and is a crucial step in the electoral process. The CEC intends to utilize this information to accurately reflect the number of parties involved in the upcoming vote.
