Physical security workers at UP are starting a strike tomorrow; other protests are also warned.

Employment disputes involving both technical staff and physical security workers at several public institutions have escalated, prompting warnings of potential industrial action from the Independent Trade Union of the Private Sector of Kosovo (FSPTSPK). The union’s chairman, Jusuf Azemi, reported that numerous physical security workers assigned to the Department of Social Issues at the Ministry of Labor, Family, and Liberation War Values submitted formal complaints regarding perceived violations of their employment rights. The primary concerns raised by the workers relate to wage discrepancies, with complaints asserting that current compensation falls below the mandated rates established by the Law on Minimum Wage.

Beyond wage issues, the group highlighted several systemic workplace grievances. These include the alleged non-adherence to established annual leave entitlements, persistent delays in salary disbursements, and the non-payment of wages owed for completed work internships. These ongoing labor disputes indicate widespread dissatisfaction among service employees concerning the terms and conditions of their employment.

The FSPTSPK has cautioned that these unresolved issues could lead to organized protests or strikes in the near future. The situation remains under observation as the union prepares for potential action to advocate for the regularization of employment contracts and the immediate resolution of outstanding financial claims for the affected personnel.
