Prizren opens five school yards for free parking for citizens

The Mayor of the Municipality of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, has announced a temporary measure aimed at improving urban mobility and parking availability during the peak summer season. To accommodate the increased population of visitors and expatriates, access to the courtyards of five local schools will be provided free of charge for use as designated parking areas. This initiative allows residents and expatriates utilizing the municipality to park vehicles at no cost until August 23.

The designated locations are the courtyards belonging to “Lidhja e Prizrenit,” “Gjon Buzuku,” “Emin Duraku,” “Motrat Qiriazi,” and “Dëshmorët e Zhurit,” all situated in the Zhur area of Prizren. Mayor Totaj stated that the primary objective of opening these school courtyards is to mitigate traffic congestion and alleviate the persistent challenge of finding adequate parking spaces as the influx of seasonal visitors increases. By utilizing these public spaces, municipal authorities aim to ensure smoother circulation throughout the city center during this busy period.

The provision of free parking in these courtyards is intended to support the general flow of daily life and tourism within Prizren. Local authorities issued the directive to help manage the logistical demands associated with the summer season, ensuring that both local citizens and temporary residents have easier access to parking facilities.
