An investigation was recently conducted by the Public Basic Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, focusing on an organized criminal group implicated in the illegal trafficking and distribution of narcotics and medical equipment. As part of the ongoing probe, law enforcement authorities executed searches across five distinct locations within Skopje during the afternoon, which included two established healthcare institutions. The operation resulted in the detention of three individuals; notably, two of those arrested were identified as medical doctors.
Following the seizure of evidence gathered during the sweep, the public prosecutor has subsequently ordered the initiation of formal investigative proceedings against four individuals connected to the network. The charges filed against the three suspects relate to serious criminal offenses. Specifically, they have been accused of participating in “criminal association” and are further charged with “infringement of industrial property rights and unauthorized use of a foreign trademark.”
The actions taken by the prosecutor’s office underscore the ongoing effort to combat illicit activities within the healthcare supply chain and drug markets.
The investigation aims to dismantle the organizational structure responsible for the illegal importation and distribution of regulated substances and medical goods. Authorities continue to build their case based on the material evidence secured during the raids, ensuring that all legal processes adhere to established protocols. The focus remains on prosecuting those responsible for undermining public health standards through criminal enterprise.
