Rashiq: Belgrade applied pressure on the Serbs and used ‘electoral engineering’ in Kosovo

Two days following the snap parliamentary elections in Kosovo, Nenad Rashiq, the leader of the “For Freedom, Justice and Survival” (GI SPO) party and the current Minister for Communities and Return, held a press conference. During the event, Rashiq addressed allegations made by the Serbian List, presenting data regarding his party’s electoral performance while simultaneously leveling serious accusations of electoral manipulation. Rashiq specifically alleged that the Serbian List was engaging in electoral engineering, blackmail, and exerting undue pressure stemming from Belgrade.

He strongly refuted claims suggesting that his political option derived its support from a narrow base. According to preliminary and unofficial vote tallies, Rashiq’s party secured an estimated 5,300 to 5,400 votes, figures that are projected to grant GI SPO at least one deputy mandate in the Kosovo Assembly. In contrast, the Serbian List reportedly won nine mandates.

The press conference served as a platform for Rashiq to counter the narrative presented by his political opponents. By presenting his own data and detailing his accusations regarding external influence and systemic pressure, Rashiq sought to establish a factual account of the election results and the political climate surrounding the vote.
