Anniversary Commemorates Fallen Heroes of Drenica
Today, April 30th, marks the 27th anniversary of the heroic sacrifice of the Nasuf and Tahir Gashani brothers, alongside other members of Brigade 114 “Fehmi Lladrovci,” operating within the Drenica Operational Zone. The events occurred under the command of Commander Ilaz Kodra. The commemoration honors those who died during the conflict, including Nasuf and Tahir Gashani, along with Naim Tiku, Besim Tiku, Zekë Gashani, Brahim Gashani, Zylfie Gashani, Rizah Tiku, Sadri Gashani, Hajrullah Gashani, Faton Gashani, Fatmir Gashani, and Mihane Gashani.
On May 3rd, 1999, the group engaged in resistance against occupying forces. The operation, centered within Brigade 114, lasted from dawn until evening. During this time, freedom fighter Ragip Sokoli sustained a wound.
The Tiku brothers, Nasuf and Tahir, tragically fell in combat alongside Besim Tiku at a critical juncture. A monument stands as a permanent tribute to these fallen individuals, bearing their names and photographs, serving as a reminder of their commitment to freedom. The event is an annual observance honoring the legacy of these individuals and their contribution to the region’s history.
