Population Growth and Pension Reform Expected in Coming Years

Demographic projections indicate a significant rise in the elderly population over the next four years. Statistics show a forecasted increase of 46% within the 65-year-old age group, expected to reach 1.9 million individuals by 2029. Simultaneously, the number of pensioners is predicted to grow substantially, increasing by 67% to a total of 65 million.

These figures are closely linked to ongoing discussions regarding reforms to the pension system, slated for implementation in 2025. Current estimates project an additional 1.28 million pensioners in 2020 and a further 1.88 million by 2025. Specifically, the anticipated growth within the pensioner demographic is substantial.

Projections indicate an increase of 653,000 individuals in 2020 and a total of 70 million pensioners by 2025. These developments highlight the growing need for sustainable and effective strategies to manage the evolving needs of a rapidly aging population and the associated financial implications.
