Gëzim Sveçla, the leader of the Self-Determination Movement group of deputies within the Pristina Communal Council, has criticized the PDK representatives in the capital, specifically naming the party’s candidate for mayor, Uran Ismaili. Sveçla alleges that the PDK has failed to fulfill several key campaign promises since assuming local governance. In a statement posted on Facebook, Sveçla highlighted two specific commitments made by Ismaili that he claims have been reversed.
The first concerns public transportation, as Sveçla pointed out the implementation of new bus ticket prices, contradicting Ismaili’s prior pledge of free public transit for Pristina’s residents. He questioned the adherence to these commitments now that the PDK holds significant influence in Pristina and controls the Directorate of Public Services. The second promise cited relates to the development of the “George Bush” square.
Sveçla suggested that the execution of both promises has taken a different course following the PDK’s assumption of local authority. The remarks indicate a political dispute regarding the fulfillment of campaign pledges, with Sveçla directly challenging the current administration’s actions against the backdrop of the stated public expectations.
