Former Kosovo President Thaçi Expresses Dissatisfaction with Trial Process
Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi provided an interview from the Hague prison, appearing on Blendi Fevziu’s “Opinion” program. During the discussion, Thaçi voiced significant concerns regarding the ongoing trial process and its trajectory. Thaçi stated that the process has deviated from its intended purpose, emphasizing the need for justice rather than retribution.
He highlighted his prolonged isolation within the prison, noting he has spent six years awaiting a judicial verdict without a resolution. Referencing political analyst Daniel Serwer’s observations, Thaçi asserted that the process has strayed from its core mission. “Justice should be offered, not revenge based on deception,” Thaçi stated, adding that the proceedings should have been transparent, accountable, and respectful of human rights.
He further described his current situation as one where “his mouth has been shut to speak and his hands have been tied to write what my heart desires and what the mind says completely.”
Thaçi declined to offer further commentary, concluding with the statement, “On my part, I have nothing to add to this conclusion.” The interview reflects ongoing concerns about the length and direction of the trial process.
