The brucellosis disease threatens livestock in the year.

The village of Lubishtë i Vitisë is grappling with a troubling issue concerning animal traditions. A sickness impacting sheep, designated as brucelosis, has surfaced in the region, generating worry amongst local farmers and inhabitants. They are apprehensive about its potential expansion and the serious threat it poses to their animals and the livelihoods of families dependent on agricultural pursuits.

Farmer Xhevxhet Ferizi from Lubishta is among the individuals in Vitisë Municipality whose 12 sheep have contracted the illness, representing a significant portion of his total herd of 60. He explains that he is vulnerable, given that brucelosis and tuberculosis are transmissible illnesses, and he is the sole person entering the barn to provide sustenance to the animals. Vitisë Agriculture Directorate representatives have acknowledged the sheep infection.

“This situation continues to be a significant concern…” They are actively monitoring the situation and implementing measures to control the spread of the disease. The health of the livestock is paramount, and efforts are focused on safeguarding the well-being of the animals and mitigating the impact on the local farming community. Further investigation into the source of the disease is underway to prevent further outbreaks of this livestock disease.
