Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje Faces Investigation Over Unqualified Student Registrations

The Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje has been the subject of scrutiny following the State Educational Inspectorate’s discovery of students registered for master’s and doctoral studies without having completed prior university studies in North Macedonia. The investigation, reported by MKD.mk, led to the suspension of these studies, leaving students without a clear path to resuming their academic pursuits. Approximately a dozen students were involved, according to the initial findings.

The Inspectorate’s intervention stemmed from concerns regarding the eligibility of individuals pursuing advanced studies without the requisite foundational education. The cost of the studies presented a significant factor. Master’s programs were estimated to range from 2,000 to 3,000 euros, while doctoral studies at the faculty were priced between 5,000 and 6,000 euros.

Currently, no resolution is available for the students involved, and the Faculty of Philosophy has not yet issued a formal statement addressing the situation. The incident raises questions about the admissions process within the faculty and the verification of academic qualifications for postgraduate studies. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full scope of the irregularities and their potential impact on the institution.
