The implementation of the law has seen over 100 foreign nationals register their residences in Kosovo.

The recent law’s implementation has resulted in over 100 foreign nationals registering their addresses within Kosovo. Sources from KOHËS report that, through the initial two days of eased implementation on Tuesday evening, more than 100 foreign citizens, predominantly from Serbia, had formally registered their places of residence under the Law on Foreigners. This development follows an agreement facilitated by the European Union.

The Government, working with the EU’s mediation, has agreed to implement the law while offering concessions specifically for the Serbian community. A key component of this approach involves granting temporary residence permits to students and workers for a duration of 12 months. Simultaneously, the government intends to acknowledge and validate documents issued by parallel Serbian structures for a period of three months.

The law officially took effect on Sunday, occurring just one day after the Government announced its activation. This measured approach to the law’s implementation reflects a commitment to addressing the needs of the Serbian population within Kosovo, ensuring a smoother transition and facilitating the registration process for foreign individuals. The overall goal is to manage the implementation of the law effectively.
