The Kosovo correspondent at the EU addresses political parties: The sooner a governing coalition

Riho Terras, the rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, has expressed significant concern regarding the pace of progress toward European Union membership in Kosovo. Terras stated that the country has effectively lost an entire year due to a persistent cycle of elections and campaigning, a situation he argues has impeded all necessary processes for EU integration. Speaking at the Clankosova, Terras emphasized that immediate governmental reform is essential for Kosovo to advance its institutional development.

He stressed that the most critical prerequisite is establishing a functional government structure. “My first advice is that the path to forming a governing coalition that can act quickly and initiate all planned reforms must be found as soon as possible,” Terras declared. The MEP urged all political factions to reconcile their differences to facilitate this necessary political breakthrough.

He indicated that the ability of the nation to move forward is directly tied to its capacity to form a stable and unified executive branch. According to Terras, the immediate focus must be on achieving a governmental consensus that can move beyond political maneuvering to execute concrete policy changes. The European Parliament representative believes that overcoming internal political divisions is paramount.

He suggested that if the various political parties in Kosovo can set aside their differences, they can collectively address the institutional hurdles that have slowed the nation’s trajectory toward fulfilling its EU accession goals.
