The legal obligation to carry winter equipment in vehicles is being discontinued.

The Road Traffic Safety Law has announced the end of mandatory seasonal tire regulations, effective November 15th. This change impacts all vehicles operating on public roads within North Macedonia. From tomorrow onwards, the requirement for specific tires during the winter months has been lifted.

Previously, vehicles needed to carry winter tires bearing the markings “MS,” “M+S,” “M&S,” or displaying a snowflake within a mountain with three peaks. These tires, alongside chains, were mandated for use. However, this regulation now concludes.

Summer tires and chains are no longer compulsory for vehicles traveling on North Macedonian roads. Despite this shift, a penalty of 45 euros, converted to denars, will still be enforced for drivers who fail to carry seasonal tires between November 15th and March 15th. This measure aims to ensure road safety during the transitional period.

The authorities emphasize the continued importance of drivers being prepared for changing weather conditions. While the legal obligation for specific tires has ended, responsible driving practices remain crucial for all vehicles. The announcement, made by North Macedonia Featured Telegraph News Macedonia, highlights a change in regulations regarding the tires that vehicles must carry.
