The Macedonian Parliament has formally elected Nenad Saveski as the head prosecutor. This decision was made during the 94th parliamentary session on March 18th, 2026, at 2:13 PM. Sixty-six members of the parliament voted in favor of Saveski’s appointment.
However, two deputies registered their opposition, and eight others chose to abstain from voting. The Government’s suggestion to designate Saveski as chief prosecutor was championed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski. Nikoloski asserted that North Macedonia is committed to upholding justice and the principles of the rule of law.
He stated that specific investigations must be initiated and resolved to enhance the reputation of the nation and the performance of the prosecutor and judicial branches. He highlighted Saveski’s qualifications, emphasizing his established professional history and spotless record. Nikoloski underscored that Saveski possesses a credible background, demonstrating a career free from any negative incidents.
