North Macedonian Prosecutor Details Contact with Prime Minister Mickoski

Skopje – The Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia stated he was contacted by Prime Minister Dimitar Mickoski via phone yesterday. The conversation centered on the ongoing investigation involving former officials, specifically regarding the case surrounding individuals Jashari and Kapushkovski. During the call, Mickoski inquired about the circumstances surrounding the prosecutor’s involvement, but the prosecutor reiterated information already released to the public by the prosecution.

He confirmed that the public prosecutor was not involved in the referral of the case and became aware of the decision following its initial announcement. The prosecutor emphasized his independent operation, citing Article 3 of the Law on Public Prosecutors. He explained that the conversation with the Prime Minister did not delve into the specifics of the case and that he provided the same information previously disseminated through media channels.

Prime Minister Mickoski subsequently questioned the prosecutor regarding the details, receiving the same publicly available explanation. The situation underscores the independent function of the public prosecutor’s office within the North Macedonian legal system.
