The ruling sentencing the terrorists of Banjska, the Assembly congratulates the decision, the Serbian List abandons the session

Kosovo Parliament Rejects Sentence in Banjska Attack Ruling

The Parliament of Kosovo voted Friday to reject the Basic Court’s ruling imposing permanent imprisonment on individuals convicted in connection with the September 24, 2023, attack in Banjska. The Basic Court in Pristina had previously convicted Blagoje Spasojevic and Vladimir Tolic of involvement in the incident. Dushan Maksimovic received a sentence of 30 years following the attack.

The attack, which occurred in Zvecan, resulted in the death of Kosovo police officer Afrim Bunjaku and injuries to three other officers. The court determined that the individuals were responsible for the events surrounding the Banjska attack. Parliament Speaker Glendina Haxhiu expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, stating, “This is half justice, the heads of the attack must come before justice.” Her comments followed a lengthy period of applause from deputies who supported the rejection of the sentence.

The Parliament’s decision reflects ongoing debate regarding the prosecution and sentencing of those involved in the Banjska attack. The court’s ruling focused on the individuals directly implicated in the attack, while the Parliament’s response highlighted a desire for a more comprehensive outcome.
