The Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) released data indicating a notable shift in electricity production and consumption during January 2026. There was a significant surge in electricity generation, largely driven by hydropower plants. ASK reported gross electricity production from hydropower reaching 29.901 GWh, marking a substantial 67.09% increase over the preceding January.
This rise in production coincided with an overall increase in electricity consumption. Available gross electricity amounted to 894.93 GWh, representing a modest 1.10% growth. Simultaneously, electricity consumption rose to 695.17 GWh, demonstrating a growth of 4.63%.
The agency highlighted that alternative energy sources accounted for 10.87% of the total consumption. Electricity imports for the month totaled 508.45 GWh, while exports reached 299.19 GWh, encompassing transmission volumes. These figures, compiled by the ASK, provide a detailed overview of Kosovo’s electricity landscape during January 2026.
