Suspect Held in Connection with Fatal Durrës Accident
Nikoll Radaçi, the suspect in the fatal accident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Durrës, has been remanded in custody. The decision follows a hearing where Radaçi was formally accused of three criminal offenses related to the incident. Lawyer Arta Geca confirmed the detention measure, stating it was anticipated.
She further indicated that Radaçi was experiencing a significant psychological state, impacting his ability to maintain composure during the proceedings. “He appeared in a state of shock and was psychologically distressed,” Geca reported. The hearing was attended by state representatives, with Geca acting as defense counsel.
Family members were not present at the time of the hearing. Following the questioning, Radaçi reportedly appeared calm. A Top Channel correspondent, Vali Qyrfyçi, noted that family members had declined to hire legal representation for Radaçi, subsequently appointing a guardian.
The incident has been described as “a day of mourning for Durrës” by local officials. Sako emphasized the need for “deep reflection” following the tragedy. Radaçi is currently being held in prison, awaiting further legal proceedings.
