Tirana Prefect Criticizes Hague Detention of Former KLA Leaders
Tirana, Albania – Tirana Prefect Shkëlqim Hajdari has voiced strong concerns regarding the continued detention of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders at The Hague, asserting that the charges brought forth by the Special Prosecutors’ Office lack definitive proof. Speaking at a meeting with the Organization of Veterans of the UÇK (KLA) War on Wednesday, Hajdari argued that the ongoing trial does not align with established standards of European justice. Hajdari stated that four former KLA leaders, recognized as key figures in the liberation movement, have been held in detention for six years.
He emphasized growing public and international scrutiny surrounding the situation. “We have four men, top leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, in prison,” Hajdari stated. The Prefect’s comments reflect a persistent debate regarding the legal proceedings against individuals central to the KLA’s role in the conflict.
He suggested that the situation warrants further examination by the international community. The meeting focused on the continued status of these former army leaders and the broader implications for the organization’s veterans.
