U.S. Military Conducts Operation Targeting Suspected Drug Trafficking Vessel in Caribbean
The U.S. military conducted a targeted operation in the Caribbean Sea against a vessel suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, according to a statement from the U.S.
Southern Command (SOUTHCOM). Task Force Combined “Southern Spear,” operating under the command of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, carried out the action.
SOUTHCOM reported that intelligence indicated the vessel was navigating established drug trafficking routes within the Caribbean and was actively engaged in illicit drug operations. During the operation, three male individuals were killed. Authorities identified them as suspected narcotics traffickers.
“Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was transiting known drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean and was engaged in drug trafficking operations,” the statement read. Notably, no U.S. military personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
The action is part of an ongoing U.S. effort to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in the region. SOUTHCOM continues to monitor maritime activity in the Caribbean in pursuit of these operations.
