Toshkovski: Even during the large flow across border points, it is not expected to take more than an hour

The Minister of Interior, Pançe Toshkovski, addressed the current status of border crossings today, announcing that significant preparations are underway to manage entry and exit procedures. The stated objective is to ensure that the average wait time at border points does not exceed one hour. The Minister highlighted marked improvements compared to previous years, noting that wait times, which historically reached up to four hours, are now being managed within a much tighter timeframe.

Toshkovski cited the crossing at Tabanovce as a successful model for operational efficiency. He reported that transit times at this specific border point have been substantially reduced, moving from a previous maximum of four hours down to a current maximum of half an hour. While acknowledging that increased traffic volume and higher frequency of travel may cause fluctuations, he projected that future wait times could rise up to one hour.

Crucially, he emphasized that this anticipated maximum remains considerably shorter than the extended periods of waiting experienced in prior years. The Minister stressed the importance of these measures for maintaining smooth cross-border movement. The ongoing efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of the entire border infrastructure.

By implementing these procedural improvements, authorities intend to minimize delays for citizens and commercial traffic, ensuring that the border remains a functional passage rather than a source of prolonged delay.
