Trump releases footage, US eliminates leader of “Tren de Aragua” gang

Donald Trump announced that the United States military was involved in the operation resulting in the death of Hector Rustenford Guerrero Flores, also known as “Nino Guerrero.” Guerrero is identified as the principal leader of the Venezuelan criminal group, Tren de Aragua. According to Trump, the operation was conducted with his authorization and in coordination with Venezuelan authorities, characterizing the target as the head of a major international criminal enterprise. US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that Guerrero was killed earlier this week.

Venezuelan officials stated that the operation benefited from shared intelligence and specialized technological assistance. Guerrero was widely considered one of Latin America’s most sought-after fugitives. He had previously been indicted in a federal court in New York on multiple charges, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering, and involvement with criminal organizations.

Furthermore, the U.S. State Department had offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his capture. The Tren de Aragua organization, which originated in Venezuela, has reportedly expanded its activities across various nations in the Americas and Europe.

The group is accused of conducting activities such as murder, extortion, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. Trump framed the action as part of a broader commitment by the U.S. administration to combat transnational organized crime, asserting that the United States intends to continue neutralizing the leaders of such criminal networks globally.
