Two Earthquakes Strike Serbia Overnight
The Serbian Seismological Institute reported two earthquakes occurred in Serbia during the night of November 3, 2023. The first, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake, was recorded at 2:35 AM local time near Bezdan. According to the institute, the epicenter of this event was located in the area between Bezdan and Bački Monostor, situated at the edge of the “Gornje Podunavlje” special reserve.
The intensity at the epicenter was assessed as a magnitude six on the Richter scale, indicating a potentially damaging event. Authorities state that earthquakes of this magnitude could result in minor structural damage within the immediate vicinity of the epicenter. Ten minutes later, a second earthquake occurred, registering a magnitude of 2.5.
This event was also centered near Bezdan. As of this reporting, there have been no confirmed reports of damage or injuries resulting from either of the earthquakes. The Serbian Seismological Institute continues to monitor the situation.
