VLEN, Ahmetit: The failure of the 5 Justices of the Peace is not only an institutional failure but also a political betrayal.

VLEN Criticizes Ministry of Justice’s Lack of Progress on Legal Translation

VLEN today issued a statement accusing Minister Ali Ahmeti of failing to achieve significant progress in translating legal precedent into Albanian. The organization cited concerns regarding the Ministry of Justice’s performance over several years, specifically highlighting the lack of resolution regarding Albanian language access within legal proceedings. During the tenure of Krenar Llogës as Minister of Justice, VLEN pointed to instances of perceived impropriety, including the inclusion of Bujar Ahmeti, the son of Ali Ahmeti’s brother, as a substitute member of the Commission for translating legal precedent.

This, according to VLEN, raised concerns about undue influence and decision-making power within the ministry. The statement asserted that despite leadership changes, including previous Albanian-named ministers such as Blerim Bexheti and Adnan Jash, not a single substantive step was taken to address the issue. VLEN characterized the situation not as a matter of oversight or indifference, but as a deliberate policy of exclusion, veiled by patriotic claims.

The organization emphasized the ongoing lack of justice for Albanian students and the failure to translate legal precedent, a persistent concern under Minister Ahmeti’s leadership.
