With the “Safe City” system, the number of traffic victims has decreased by 40 percent.

The Minister of Interior, Pançe Toshkovski, reported a significant reduction in traffic accident fatalities following the deployment of the “Safe City” system. During a presentation detailing the ministry’s efforts over the past two years, Toshkovski highlighted the impact of the new technology on public safety. He stated that between February 2 and June 22, 2026, the number of traffic fatalities recorded was 33.

This represents a notable decrease when compared to the 55 fatalities reported during the identical period in the previous year. Furthermore, the “Safe City” system has been instrumental in monitoring compliance with traffic regulations. From the system’s activation date on February 2 until June 22, authorities documented over 120,000 traffic rule violations.

According to the Minister, the vast majority of these infractions, exceeding 95 percent, were attributed to speeding. Toshkovski noted that the “Safe City” project, which had been under discussion for several years, has now been successfully implemented. The system is designed to enhance overall road safety by monitoring and documenting violations in real-time, thereby contributing to a safer traffic environment.
