Twenty-seven years ago, on April 5, 1999, a massacre occurred in Rezalla, near Skenderaj, Kosovo. Serbian forces executed 98 Albanian citizens and residents from the village and surrounding areas. Forty-four individuals were specifically targeted for disappearance.
In 1999, Serbian military and police surrounded the homes of these families. Almost all men and young boys were systematically shot with rifles. The bodies of many victims were discovered in Rudnicë, near Rashka, and were subsequently handed over to relatives.
Following the event, only three individuals survived the Rezalla massacre. This tragedy is widely regarded as one of the most brutal incidents during the Kosovo conflict. The remains of the victims were recovered and returned to their families.
The event remains a significant and deeply mourned event in the history of Kosovo.
