Kosovo Tax Administration Reports Increased Success Following Citizen Denunciations
The Kosovo Tax Administration (ATK) has announced significant progress in its efforts to combat the informal economy and bolster tax discipline, driven largely by citizen denunciations. Over the reporting period, the ATK received a substantial increase in reports, totaling 924 denunciations – a 67.1% rise compared to the same period last year. These denunciations were central to the ATK’s investigative activities, leading to the issuance of 269 fines amounting to approximately €130,316.
The actions targeted tax evasion and aimed to improve overall financial transparency within the region. The ATK’s interventions have demonstrably impacted financial reporting. As a direct result of these investigations, approximately €396,127 in turnover was declared, alongside €29,254 in Value Added Tax (VAT).
The success of this initiative is largely attributed to the public’s role in providing information regarding illicit economic activity. The ATK continues to emphasize the importance of citizen denunciations in its ongoing efforts to address tax evasion and strengthen the tax system.
