Jim Lovell, a renowned figure in space exploration, sent a special message to the Artemis II crew today. The message, a pre-recorded video, was shared on NASA’s X account. Lovell, one of only three individuals to have traveled to the Moon twice, addressed the Artemis II team.
He greeted them with, “Welcome to my old neighborhood,” followed by, “Don’t forget to enjoy the view.”
Lovell’s career included his pivotal role as a pilot during the Apollo 8 mission and his involvement with the Apollo 13 mission, where he played a crucial part in the crew’s safe return to Earth. The video message was recorded last year. Sadly, Jim Lovell passed away in August of last year at the age of 97.
His legacy as a pioneering astronaut and a key contributor to American space exploration remains significant.
