Albanian Minister of Culture and Tourism, Edi Rama, recently released a video series to promote the Samitët e Katërt të Diasporës, a series of events held in Tirana from March 13th to 15th. The videos served to commemorate significant anniversaries within Albanian history and culture. The event marked the 130th anniversary of the birth of Gjon Buzuku, Albania’s first writer, and the 140th and 150th anniversaries of the births of other influential figures.
These included Gjergj Fishta, Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, Ismail Qemali, and Mother Teresa. The Samitët e Katërt të Diasporës invited Albanian diaspora communities to attend the celebrations. Minister Rama directly addressed the diaspora, encouraging their participation in the event.
The purpose of the gatherings was to honor these historical figures and foster connections between Albania and its communities abroad. The event aimed to recognize the contributions of these individuals and celebrate Albania’s cultural heritage with its global diaspora.
