VLEN Leader Criticizes BDI’s Handling of Jurisprudence Examination
Izet Mexhiti, a prominent leader of the VLEN party, addressed the ongoing issue of jurisprudence examinations in an interview broadcast on Channel 5. During the interview, Mexhiti directed criticism towards the BDI (Democratic Party of Albania) for failing to resolve the problem over an extended period. Mexhiti argued that despite five former BDI ministers having held the position of justice minister, the issue remained unresolved.
He asserted that it is inequitable for Albanian students to study within the Albanian language and subsequently be mandated to take the examination in a different language. “Five former BDI ministers who did not solve it, who come out and protest, students study in Albanian and it is logical and it is their duty to take it in Albanian,” Mexhiti stated. He questioned the justification for current criticism, specifically directed at Justice Minister Fillkovi, given the inaction of previous BDI administrations.
Mexhiti highlighted instances where members of the BDI have voiced concerns regarding the examination requirements. The core of the debate centers on the fairness of requiring Albanian-speaking students to demonstrate their legal knowledge in a language other than their primary study language. The discussion underscores a long-standing challenge within the Albanian justice system and the role of the BDI in addressing it.
