Exhumation of Sinan Dauti Scheduled Following 27 Years
The Government Commission for Missing Persons will conduct the exhumation of Sinan Dauti, who disappeared during the Kosovo conflict, on April 18, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled for 13:30 at Prekaz e Sipërme, within the Bregaj neighborhood cemetery. This marks the culmination of a 27-year search for the remains of Dauti.
Family members recounted details of the circumstances surrounding Dauti’s disappearance. According to accounts shared with Gazeta Express on April 17, 2026, at 23:22, the incident occurred in a basement where women and children were sheltering. “She told him that in that basement there were only women and children,” a family member stated.
“Serbian forces, despite knowledge of the vulnerable occupants, opened windows and utilized AK-47 weaponry. During this confrontation, Sinan Dauti pulled a child’s hair, causing serious injury to a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law. The child reportedly exclaimed, “Oh grandpa, he pulled my hair.”
The exhumation is a significant step in identifying and returning the remains of Sinan Dauti to his family.
Authorities anticipate further information regarding the cause of death following the forensic examination of the recovered remains.
