Bosnian Foreign Minister Criticizes Serbia at Balkan Peace Initiative

Antalya – Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, participated in the Third Ministerial Meeting of the “Platform for Peace in the Balkans” regional initiative held in Antalya. During the meeting, which also featured Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Guriq, Konaković delivered a pointed critique of the Serbian government’s stance regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina. Konaković highlighted significant differences in perspectives between the two nations.

Addressing the topic of bilateral relations, the Bosnian minister asserted that regional countries should prioritize honesty and responsibility as foundational elements for building trust, rather than acting solely out of goodwill. He emphasized that rebuilding relationships following the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina – which he characterized as “aggression” – requires a shift in approach. Konaković stated that attempts to deceive or delay trust-building efforts would be unproductive.

The Bosnian foreign minister specifically referenced concerns regarding the actions of individuals involved in war crimes during the conflict, stating that the concealment or glorification of such actions would further complicate the process of reconciliation. The meeting underscored ongoing challenges in fostering stability and cooperation within the Balkan region.
