Zelensky Criticizes American Envoy Visits to Moscow
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his disapproval of the recent visits by American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow, stating it represents a “lack of respect.” The envoys conducted meetings in the Russian capital at the close of last year, coinciding with increased discussions regarding a potential ceasefire to conclude the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and again in January. Steve Witkoff, who has previously traveled to Moscow eight times, has engaged in direct meetings with Vladimir Putin on multiple occasions. However, neither Witkoff nor Kushner have undertaken official visits to Kyiv.
According to reports, the pair’s focus remained solely within Russia. “It is a lack of respect [on their part] to come to Moscow and not to Kyiv,” Zelensky stated in an interview with Ukrainian media. “I understand that we have complex logistical considerations… If they don’t wish to, we can meet in…”
The Ukrainian president’s comments underscore the importance of direct engagement with the Ukrainian government in any negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict.
The American envoys’ decision to prioritize meetings in Moscow has been met with criticism from Kyiv.

It’s disheartening to see the President feel this level of disrespect regarding diplomatic efforts.
