Latifi: Albin Kurti wants all the power, the problem is the opposition’s passivity in preventing this.

Analyst Latifi Attributes Kurti’s Ambitions to Opposition Strategy

Tirana – Political analyst Blerim Latifi has suggested that Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s pursuit of centralized power is being inadvertently fueled by a passive opposition. Speaking on T7’s “Pressing” program on April 23, 2026, Latifi argued that the opposition’s response to Kurti’s actions is contributing to a cycle of criticism. Latifi stated that a key issue is the opposition’s role as primarily observers, rather than active participants in political discourse.

He asserted that the opposition lacks the dynamism needed to shift public attention away from critiques directed at Kurti. “The problem is that the opposition is not managing to draw public attention from this vicious circle,” Latifi explained. He further suggested that the opposition’s strategy appears to be focused on weakening Kurti politically, rather than offering a robust alternative.

“Enough has already been criticized for wanting all power, kurti. The problem is what political opponents want to do, or they are doing something to weaken Albin Kurti in politics,” Latifi commented. The analyst’s remarks highlight a debate surrounding the role of the opposition in Albania’s current political landscape and the strategies employed by both kurti and his political rivals.
