Kosovo Minister Praises Sentencing in Banjska Attack Case
Prishtina, Kosovo – Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla has responded to the recent court ruling in the case concerning the November 1, 2023 attack in Banjska, where three individuals were sentenced for their involvement. Two terrorists received life imprisonment, while a third was sentenced to 30 years. Minister Sveçla utilized a social media post to express his view on the significance of the decision for the justice system of the Republic of Kosovo.
He stated that maximum sentences should be applied to all those involved, including members of a broader network of 45 individuals identified as connected to the operation. The minister highlighted this ruling as a crucial step in upholding the principles of justice. “The September 24, 2023 attack was not an isolated act, but an organized operation with state support from Serbia, aimed at undermining the constitutional order and annexing a part of the territory of Kosovo,” Sveçla asserted.
Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the network and its motivations. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities seeking to hold accountable every participant in the event.
