LSDM Leader Criticizes Government’s Impact on North Macedonia’s European Progress
Skopje – At a press conference held today, Venko Filipçe, leader of the Internal Democratic Alliance (LSDM), asserted that North Macedonia’s progress toward European Union membership is being significantly hampered by the policies of the current government. He stated that the country remains blocked from advancing on its European path. Filipçe attributed this stagnation to what he described as “mistaken policies” implemented by Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi, specifically referencing the actions of his predecessor, Gordana Siljanovska-Davidova, and the current administration.
He highlighted the formation of a commission drafting an agreement for Montenegro’s accession to the EU as a point of concern, questioning the lack of corresponding progress for North Macedonia. “A few days ago, a commission was formed that is already drafting the agreement for Montenegro’s accession to the European Union. Where are we?
Blocked by the Prime Minister’s lies, in his anti-European policies, in the insults he spreads towards the member states of the European Union and the Union as a whole,” Filipçe stated. He accused the government of employing a “false campaign” and disseminating misinformation to obscure a lack of genuine advancement. The LSDM leader further criticized the government’s approach to its relationship with the European Union, alleging attempts to justify inaction through misleading narratives.
The comments underscore ongoing tensions surrounding North Macedonia’s future within the European framework and the role of its leadership in navigating the accession process.
