Volkswagen Developing Ninth-Generation Golf
Volkswagen is currently in the development phase of the ninth generation Golf, an iconic compact car set to be released in the future. Initial design sketches have emerged, marking the first public glimpse of the upcoming model. The new Golf is anticipated to be an all-electric vehicle, though a release date is not yet confirmed.
Current projections suggest a debut at least as far out as 2028. Details regarding the vehicle remain limited, with development already underway. Volkswagen head Thomas Schafer recently shared insights into the project.
“The team is working on the car,” Schafer stated. “Last year, in November, I had the opportunity to see the model and said WOW, it was so beautiful. It was just one of the ideas – not the final model, but one of those prototypes for which you continue to make decisions.
But at first glance it looked very good.”
The development process involves exploring various design prototypes, with the final model still to be determined. The project represents a significant step for the Volkswagen brand about the future of its popular golf model. Further updates are expected as the vehicle progresses through its development cycle.
