Serbian defense lawyer Ivan Ninić has criticized the Serbian government’s swift declaration of guilt and sentencing of Blagoje Spasojević, Vladimir Tolić, and Dushan Maksimović in connection with the Banjska attack. Ninić stated that this action represents a “moral and civilizational failure” of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s political approach. He argued that the government’s response, coupled with a lack of further institutional action, indicates a deliberate political use of the accused individuals.
Ninić asserted that the situation transcends a simple legal defeat, characterizing it as a significant failure of Serbian civilization and morality due to what he described as a betrayal by Vučić. The lawyer pointed to actions taken in northern Kosovo as being driven by “political games.” He did not elaborate on the specific actions or their implications. Ninić’s comments follow the initial declaration of guilt and sentencing of the three individuals related to the Banjska incident.
