Tensions Remain Following MP Geci’s Criticism of Thaçi
Statements made by Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) MP Fatos Geci regarding former President Hashim Thaçi have continued to generate significant debate within Kosovan politics. The controversy centers around a recent speech delivered by Geci in Parliament. Former Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës (Kosovo Democratic League) MP, Gani Geci, who is related to the Vetëvendosje MP, asserted that Geci’s remarks were not an isolated incident.
Geci claimed the speech was influenced by another individual within the Vetëvendosje party. “I want to be included for those who distanced themselves from Fatos Geci’s speech,” Geci stated. “I am addressing VV that behind this speech is one of the MPs of VV, a close associate of Albin Kurti and Glauk Konjufca… a letter was given to a VV MP.”
The original speech, in which Geci asserted that Thaçi would face a similar outcome to that of Naim Murseli, and would likely face imprisonment, has further intensified the political discourse.
